Beyond Limitations: Devika's story of academic excellence




Hailing from Malappuram in Kerala, Devika was born without arms. But surpassing all the difficulties, the 16- year-old girl appeared for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination and scored A+ in all subjects in her 10th standard board.


Devika's parents, Sujitha and Sajeev, have ensured the best of education for her. For her board examinations, she was determined not to have a scribe and wrote all the papers herself. She is proficient in writing in Malayalam, English and Hindi. Devika admits to receiving wholehearted support from her teachers at Chandan Brothers Higher Secondary School in Vallikunnu, Malappuram.


Aside from her excellence in academics, Devika is also a brilliant painter. In fact, her paintings were recently exhibited at the Kozhikode Swapnachitra Art Gallery. She enjoys singing, and in 2019, she also won the Best Cadet award in Junior Red Cross. The defiant teen aspires to join the prestigious Civil Services someday and is striving hard toward her goal.

Devika's remarkable achievements serve as a testament to the power of human spirit and determination. Despite facing physical challenges, she not only excelled academically but also pursued her passions in art and music.
