Ladaku’ Nazia, as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, jokingly called her at the National Bravery Awards giving ceremony in Delhi, is one fierce 18 years old girl. A resident of Agra, Nazia has been awarded by national and state government for her courageous and commendable acts.

In 2016, Nazia, then 15-year-old was awarded the Rani Laxmi Bai Bravery Award by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Women’s Day, for her heroic act of resisting the kidnapping of a 6-year-old student belonging to her own school. While returning from school, Nazia heard the screams of a girl for help. She rushed and grabbed the frightened child, and stood firm against two men trying to flee away with her on a bike. She took her back to school and informed the principal, who later called the police and appropriate actions were taken. Nazia also received a cheque of Rs. 1 lakh along with the award, for her spontaneous and bold response.

Nazia Khan has also played a pivotal role in helping the police arrest few goons involved in gambling and betting racket in Agra. She discreetly collected evidences against criminals harassing shopkeepers in Sadar Bhatti area of Agra, and helped the police nab four people.

The National Bravery Awards which is categorized into five, namely Bharat Award, Geeta Chopra Award, Sanjay Chopra Award, Bapu Gaidhani Award, and General National Bravery Awards, were given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 24, 2018. Nazia Khan received the Bharat National Bravery award.

President Ramnath Kovind hosted a reception for the awardees, who also participated in the Republic Day parade on January 26, 2018.
